Tell us about yourself and your cycling or adventuring achievements.
I have always been interested in cycling and bicycles. You could say it’s in the blood, with my Grandfather owning a cycle shop from the 1930’s to 1970’s.

I remember taking my first first proper racing bike apart, to my fathers horror, and putting it back together again to understand how it works. As a result I was offered a job at the local bike shop, where I worked until I went to University. On leaving University I entered the IT industry where I held various positions over the next 30 years.

I have been cycling seriously since I was a teenager and joined the local cycling club and completed successfully in road races, time trials, cyclocross and track racing. I have also competed in Belgium and France.

After a short break from cycling I joined a local cycling club where I started to ride socially and provide advice and guidance to new and existing members. This was an area where I wanted to develop further more formally. I am now a British Cycling level 3 certified, road and time trial cycle coach.

I joined the team at Spokes full time in June after helping out on a part-time basis while I took a career break, to focus on my coaching qualifications.

Most recent cycling Achievements include, Etap du Tour, Dragon Ride, Tour of Wessex, Paris Roubaix, Tour of Flanders, Liege-Bastogne-Liege, Raid Alpine, Raid Pyrenee, Ride London, Mont Ventoux challenge, Alps & Pyrenees trips.

What are your favourite things to do on the bike?
I love riding in a group and the challenge of riding UK’s and Europes most prestigious events.

Where is the most exciting place you’ve ridden your bike?
Difficult to answer as I have riden over most of Europe’s most iconic and legendary mountains and roads from Northern Europe to the Italian Dolomites and French Alps and Pyrenees. If I had to pick one place it would have to be the Pyrenees.

What is your goal in life, cycling or otherwise?
I have achieved a great deal in my professional and cycling career. Now I want to help others develop to their potential and achieve their goals.

Who are your sporting heroes?
Greg Lemond, Stephen Roche and British pro cyclist Paul Sherwin who made it in the pro peloton the hard way!
